Qdoba

Have any of you been to a mexican place called Qdoba? There's one opening down the street, and as a fine connoisseur of tex-mex, fresh-mex, and every other-mex I am interested in finding out if they're as good as they sound. The molé sauce alone sounds like enough to have me waiting at the door on opening day.

dude, I eat at Qdoba all the time. like, weekly.

They're pretty tasty... I don't know if you have Baja Fresh or Una Mas in Florida, but Qdoba beats them by a landside...

Cool! We don't have either of those places, but I'm glad to hear the one we're getting is better :)

I haven't heard of QDoba, but as a Dallas native I've been searching desperately for good Tex-Mex in Jacksonville and St. Augustine since 1997. So far, the best I've been able to find are Don Pablo's and Chevy's, but neither has perfected the artery-hardening fare like the restaurants in Texas.

El Farol has the best burritos. $4 for a double steak the size of a Buick.

Qdoba is ... okay. The burritos are big, and fresh, but sort of bland. And the steamed tortillas are like tissue paper when you go to eat your overstuffed burrito.

It's a hell of a lot better than a lot of places, and probably healthier, too, but ... it just doesn't excite me.

I won't lie; I've only eaten at 3 different Qdoba locations (but I eat there almost every week because it'll keep me full all day)... but sometimes Qdoba has definite "off" days.

I've never noticed the tissue paper tortillas.

On two occasions, I've bitten into a couple of undercooked beans...

But the burritos are freaking huge. Maybe I should start eating there for breakfast, and then I don't have to eat for the rest of the day (considering you can get almost all - if not ALL - of the food groups in one meal...)

Anyone else miss Cyclone Anaya's besides me?

My wife eats at Qdoba -- personally, I dislike them and don't eat there if I have any choice in the matter. (Denver-local) Chipotle beats them nine ways from Sunday.

Actually, Casa De Burrito, in the Tabor Center, has the best burritos in Denver. Their carne asada burrito can give you a coronary just smelling it.

I also remember, fondly, Juanita's Burritos from my bright college days, but that's neither here nor there. (Literally -- it's in California.)

I have seen Qdoba grow from being Z-Teca to what it is today. They got there through having variety, consistency, and personal service. I dine Qdoba weekly, my friends and family all agree, Qdoba has the niche in the market. Watch out Chipolte and you other Tex-Mex fanatics, the new kid on the block just got bigger with the recent partnership with Jack-in-the-Box
