Miscellaneous Geekitude
This trailer for Wednesday's episode of Angel has me in geekout mode. Willow will be crossing over to the show from Buffy for an episode, and it looks like we may finally see a good Willow vs. Cordelia smackdown. I think that Cordy bitch has been needing a good beating for about seven years.
The SciFi Channel's adaptation of Children of Dune starts Sunday night at 9 PM. I have some minor nitpicks about making Leto II and Ghanima older and combining the events of two books, but they did an acceptable job with the last one so I'm willing to overlook those. Children of Dune seems to have a bigger budget to work with this time around and they have two excellent actresses in the cast. Hopefully they won't mangle the story too badly and it will be good.
Tonight Clay and I checked our IQs at the door and had a great time laughing at Old School. While I thought it was a bit uneven, having most of the best bits in the first half, I certainly got a kick out of it. Very dumb, but dumb is often funny.
Another Buffy note... I just watched the Lie to Me episode from season two. It was one of the best-written hours of television I've seen in a very long time. If you've ever thought about watching the show but didn't know if it was really as good as the rabid fans make it sound, I recommend checking that one out in particular. It's available on DVD now (season 2 disk 2) and is definitely worth a rental.
Buffy: Does it ever get easy?
Giles: You mean life?
Buffy: Yeah. Does it get easy?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: Lie to me.
Giles: Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.
