So it was 4 AM and I was sitting here at my computer when I heard someone run :thud: into my window. There was thrashing around in the bushes and what sounded like the wooden fence being knocked down. Next I heard muffled shouting. I grabbed the only weapon I have in the house which, absurdly enough, is a flail (just like this one). Sure it's archaic, but having a three pound spiked steel ball whacking you in the head would still hurt.
I looked out the window, wondering if was going to have to get literally medieval on someone's ass. Ok... I was mostly wondering if was about to get shot, but the medieval part was in there somewhere too.
The next thing I saw through the blinds were a couple police officers in swat-type gear dragging a guy out of the yard. They were gone before I had a chance to get outside and find out was going on, so I called the non-emergency dispatcher number. The nice but rather tired sounding officer told me that there was an attempted break-in on my block. Apparently the guy ran for my window to try and find someplace to hide and that's where he was caught.
Crazy stuff has happened outside my window at 4 AM before. Part of me thinks I'd be better off asleep. The whole ignorance in bliss thing. The other part of me wants to buy a real weapon and sit up all night listening for noises.

Posted by: secret asIAN man on September 18, 2002 03:20 PM - linkFYI I just got a nice new shiney SHOTGUN, from curry thomas hardware. something about a "pump action" shot gun that just screams "Stay Out". Maybe you should consider one, they are cheaper than pistols, you dont have to wait 3 days, and you can shoot skeet with me and todd at the gun range!
I got mine for $300 brand new!!
