Iron Giant

Have you never seen the excellent animated film, The Iron Giant? If you have the cartoon network, you can remedy that starting this Tuesday night at 7:00 PM. They're showing a 24-hour back to back marathon of it, so you have 12 chances to catch it. It's one of the best animated films ever, in my humble opinion.

Yeah, but just try finding the toys for your besotted 5 year old...a-go-nee!

I have it on DVD but haven't watched it yet. I was planning on it for this weekend, actually.

Yeah, the toys go for a ton of money on EBay. I guess it's because the movie was a flop at the theater (due to WB's horrible advertising the first time around) and didn't get much recognition till it hit video.

No atomo. Su-Per-Man.

Fucking robot made me weep like a little girl when he took that nuke. Of course, I was buoyed by the ending...Vin Diesel will never make a better film (although I did enjoy Pitch Black)

If it makes you feel any better, I get teary-eyed every single time I watch that movie.

Wow!

Makes me wish I had a TV.

Great movie, which I never saw until about a year ago, when I was visiting friends with an 8 yr old. We all sat and watched it. Just a wonderful flick...

Love that movie! Little factoid: it was written by Sylvia Plath's husband, to help their children deal with her death.

Well, Ted Hughes's book is not really all that much like the movie, to me anyway. It's not bad (I don't know why, but for some reason I have an extremely hard time being objective about him or his work...his poetry irks me immensely) but I prefer the film.

ezrael just totally spoiled the movie for me. Bastard.

This is the only time in my life I haven't had a TV. I can't watch :(

vin diesel is the voice of the giant...

[more useless trivia as it warrants...]

Don't let the spoiler make you pass up the movie. It's still worth watching. You just need to buy, borrow, or otherwise obtain a tv :)

Watching it now. For the 100th time.

I'm a little bummed that it's not in widescreen, but I guess kids don't dig that.

oh! i love that movie! i happen to have the letterbox edition VHS, but since i watch it on little TVs, that just makes it little.
